Horse Riding

Pony treking is a lovely way to explore the area.

Nearest to Torrisdale is Crosshill which is just a few miles away near the village of Peninver.

Barrglen is located on the west coast of Kintyre and Brenfield is slightly further afield in Mid Argyll.

Under the ownership of Fiona McArthur, Barrglen Equitation Centre celebrated its 10th anniversary in May 2007. The centre is set amidst a magnificent 5,000 acre working hill sheep farm, with plenty off-road hacking, a 60m x 30m sand arena and traditional stables. Every lesson is tailored to meet your individual needs. They offer lessons ranging from beginner through to more advanced jumping or flatwork.

Tove, David and their staff offer TREC training, riding lessons, cross country training and flatwork instruction for riders on their own horses at the Brenfield Estate riding complex. Brenfield is also a popular Horses Welcome location. Many horse owners visit Brenfield each year with their horses for a riding holiday in the highlands. Brenfield staff are available for hire as guides and their knowledge of the Argyll area from horseback is second to none.
